Ingredients:
2 C all-purpose flour (may use up to half whole wheat)
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
8 Tbsp cold butter
1/4 cup chopped pecans or pecan meal
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup maple syrup like Pennsylvania Pure Maple Syrup*
1 tsp maple favoring
1/2 tsp vanilla
Glaze:
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
2 tsp soft butter
2-3 Tbsp cream
1/4 tsp maple flavoring
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Grate in or cut in cold butter until it resembles the size of small peas. Stir in pecans. In separate bowl, whisk together the cream, syrup, and flavoring. Pour over the dry ingredients. Stir together until just combined. Place dough on flat surface and form into a one inch thick circle that is about 6-7 inches across. Cut into desired size wedges and place one inch apart on baking sheet lined with parchment paper*. Bake for 8-10 minutes until firm to the touch. Whisk together glaze ingredients and drizzle over scones while still warm. Yields 8-10 depending on size of wedges.
