Granulated Honey, also commonly referred to as Powdered Honey, is not easy to find. Known as the world’s oldest known sweetener, honey is one of the few foods that will never spoil. Honey that is still edible has even been found in ancient Egyptian tombs.
Because of its powder like consistency, Granulated Honey is ideal to use in rub blends and it also plays nicely with other rub ingredients while keeping its sticky nature, making it a favorite ingredient of ours.
When and Where to Use Granulated Honey
Our honey can be used in a variety of ways. Instead of adding sugar or honey to our tea, we like to use this granulated honey. It gives the tea a sweet flavor without changing the texture at all. Honey is also a great flavor that plays well with its counterpart – heat. Like in our Honey Chipotle Rub, you can take honey and add almost any type of chile powder to create a flavor sensation of sweet and heat. When the rub is activated by the heat of the grill or smoker, the granulated honey will glaze very nicely.
Honey is often used to sweeten drinks, baked goods, and marinades in place of conventional sugar. There are some who even consider granulated honey to be sweeter than sugar, so you may want to use less depending on your sweetness preference.
Some of our favorite recipes using granulated honey is Lean Ground Beef Chili, Instant Pot General Tso’s Style Chicken and Apple and Raisin Cake.
We also carry Demerara Sugar, a pure, raw sugar as well as several other delectable all natural sweeteners, Granulated Molasses and our Vermont Maple Sugar.
Honey is considered a classic sweetener with a thick, complex flavor.
