Special Event: Farm to Table Dinner with Fields Edge Farm
The mission of The Field’s Edge is to explore crop diversity and identify varieties and alternative foods that thrive for organic farmers in the Mid-Atlantic. At this veggie showcase, you’ll see and taste several of these varieties. Alex will share unique heirloom and experimental vegetable varieties from The Field’s Edge, along with simple ways to transform unfamiliar ingredients into easy and tasty dishes based on their botanical family. Experience dishes showcasing collaborations with chefs, featuring tips on using all parts of garden plants to maximize harvest and explore diverse flavors and textures. Discover culinary adventures that can be found as close as your garden or the nearest farmer’s market. Demonstration. BYOB. Ages 16 and up
- Heirloom tomato carpaccio with nose-to-tail veggies
- Whole pumpkin soup prepared with tendrils, fruits, flowers, leaves and shoots
- Field greens medley – a salad using speedy, house-made condiments to showcase the unique qualities of over a dozen types of leafy edible greens.
- A tasting of heirloom and experimental crop varieties, fresh, preserved, and simply dressed
